Privacy policy

Papercut is built on one promise: the things you write belong to you. We don't sell your notes, and we don't use them to train our own models.

What we collect

• Account details — your email address, and your name if you sign in with Apple or Google. Used to create and sign you into your account.
• Your content — the notes you write, and the photos, screenshots and documents you upload to convert. Used to produce your converted pages and to show them back to you in your library.
• An account identifier — an internal user ID that links your content and purchases to your account.
• Purchase history — which plan or credit pack you bought and when, so we can give you what you paid for. We never see or store your card details.

We don't use analytics or advertising SDKs, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers that make Papercut work. Each is bound by its own agreement to protect your data to the same standard set out in this policy, and none of them may use it for their own purposes:

• Supabase — hosts our database, file storage and sign-in. Your account details and notes are stored here.
• OpenRouter, and the model providers it routes to (currently Google and Alibaba's Qwen models) — when you convert a note, its text and images are sent to these providers to produce your page. This is the only way conversion can work, and it happens only when you ask for a conversion.
• Apple — processes subscriptions and purchases made on iPhone and iPad.
• Stripe — processes payments made on desktop and web.
• Render — hosts this website.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your notes and account details for as long as your account exists, so your library is there when you come back.

• Delete a note — delete any note, and the photo or file it came from, at any time from your library. It is removed from our storage.
• Delete your account — in the app, go to You → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, your notes, your uploaded files and your usage history. It can't be undone.
• Withdraw consent — deleting your account withdraws your consent for us to hold your data. You can also email us and we'll delete it for you.

Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Cancel an Apple subscription in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or a desktop subscription from Settings in the desktop app, before deleting.

Every converted page can also be exported as a standalone file you keep locally, so nothing is locked behind Papercut.

Shared links

If you choose to share a note, we create a link that anyone holding it can open. Only notes you explicitly share are reachable this way, and you can stop sharing at any time.

Changes and contact

If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and flag anything significant before it takes effect.
